A little more about Welsh Dragon Flag
At 3ft x 5ft our Welsh flag can be seen for miles displayed from a telescopic pole kit. The flag is made from 100% polyester fabric, auto screen printed with 2 eyelets for flying and doubled stitched edges for extra strength. We recommend 5m poles or larger for our Welsh flags.
Vexillology
The Welsh Flag known as the Baner Cymru or Y Ddraig Goch (The Red Dragon) incoporates The Red Dragon of Cadwaladr with the Tudor colours of green and white as a background. The Welsh flag was given official status in 1959 becoming the nation Flag of Wales, although the Red Dragon has appeared throughout Welsh history for many centuries.
The Welsh flag is the only flag not to appear on the Union jack even though Wales is a constituent country of the United Kingdom. The reason for this was that in 1282 Wales was united and annexed to England by Edward of England so arguably the English flag, the St George Cross, represents Wales.
Wales has a second Welsh flag, the Flag of St David, and consists of a yellow cross on a black background which is fast becoming a symbol of Welsh nationalism.
